Curtis Morton
Today, May 1st marks the 65th birthday of one of Nevis’ finest sons-Elquemedo Tonito Willet.
Willet holds the distinguished honour of being not only the first Nevisian but significantly the first Leeward Islander to make it to the prestigious West Indies senior Cricket team.
This feat was accomplished in 1973 when he was only 19 years old.
The ace left arm spinner played five test matches between 1973 and 1974.
In that same year while on tour in England he secured his best first class figures when he took 8 wickets for 73 runs and then 3 for 44 versus Glamorgan.
In recent times, the local hero has been recovering from injuries suffered from an unfortunate fall at the sporting venue named in his honour-The ET Willet Park.
From all reports, he is recuperating nicely.
We join all of his many fans across the globe in wishing the great man a really happy birthday!
