Basseterre: St. Kitts: A Virtual opening ceremony utilizing the Ministry of Education’s official online learning platform is organized for individuals who met the requirements to be engaged as teachers for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The theme for this years’ Pre-Service Training programme remains ‘Education for All: Embracing Change, Securing the Future’ which was coined in connection with the Ministry’s 2017-2021 Education Sector Plan.
The sessions afford prospective teachers a preview of the profession prior to engaging in actual classroom teaching.
Each candidate will sit Literacy and Numeracy Proficiency Tests which will be administered on the afternoon of Monday, July 19th.
The online training sessions will commence on Tuesday, July 20th and continue until Friday, July 30th. Topics on the schedule include: The Teacher and the Law; Teaching Portfolios; Classroom Management; Teachers’ Rights and Responsibilities;
The Enhanced Curriculum: Balanced Assessment, Health and Wellness in the Workplace as well as Differentiating Instructions.
Following completion of the Pre-service training, candidates will be invited to participate in an interview to determine their suitability for teaching. Successful candidates will be informed about their level of success prior to the start of the new school term.
