The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on many areas, including the official recognition of NEMA and Ndmd.kn for their successful implementation of the UNESCO-IOC Tsunami Ready Pilot Project in the Federation.
Although this recognition was achieved in 2022, the physical certificates and “Tsunami Ready” signs were formally presented at the recently concluded CDM13. This event provided an opportunity for the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE-EWS) to hand over these certificates.
