Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 23, 2018, (RSCNPF): A U.S. citizen is facing charges from Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) after a firearm and ammunition was found in his luggage.
The Customs Officers made the discovery when the luggage of Jonathan McLaughlin of Virginia, U.S.A. passed through the scanners. The incident occurred at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport on Monday, January 22, 2018. He was set to leave the Federation on that day.
The Customs and Excise Department has charged McLaughlin for the offences of Importation of one Kel Tec .32 Pistol, Possession of twelve (12) .32 rounds of ammunition and False Declaration. The RSCNPF charged him for the offences of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing
