Two Nevisians In Federation Team For Pan Am Juniors
Two Nevisians have been included in the Federation team that will leave next week to compete in the 2013 edition of the Pan Am Juniors.
The 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championship will showcase many of the top international junior athletes. It will be held from August 23-25 in Medellin, Columbia. Medellin is a modern progressive city that has hosted numerous athletic events in the last few years.
The Pan Am Junior Athletics Championships are open to athletes age 16 to 19 as of December 31, 2013.
The Federation team comprises of a total of 17 athletes and officials and is scheduled to leave on Tuesday 20th August. There are two Nevisians included in the team. They are sprinter Sadiki Tyson and javelin thrower, Adrian Williams.
Adrian, who is currently serving as an Intern at the Ministry of Social Development as part of the summer job attachment program, was interviewed on Monday by fellow intern. Jesse Browne.
He indicated that he is confident of ‘medaling’ as he pointed out that he has been training really hard and has put in many hours under the close scrutiny of not only his coaches in Nevis, but has spent many hours training with the entire team in St.Kitts as well.
He noted that special thanks must be extended to the SKNOC (The St.Kitts-Nevis Olympic Committee) the SKNAAA (The St.Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletic Association for making the trip for the athletes possible. It is understood that cost of the trip for the athletes and officials, is somewhere in the region of E.C $78,000.00.
