Two drown in a boating accident at Port Zante, St Kitts

Two men lost their lives on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at approximately 5:15 p.m. when a boat they were on capsized in the berthing area at Port Zante, Basseterre.

The bodies of the men were identified as Rudolph Dowell of Ponds Extension and Maxwell Browne of New Road. Rudolph who was an employee of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority and Maxwell Browne an employee of S.L. Horsfords Ltd bodies were retrieved by local divers in the vicinity of which the small vessel capsized.

Nevispages understands that the men were assisting with the unberthing process of the cruise ships when the small vessel in which they were on overturned while the cruise ship was attempting to leave the port.

This is the second tragic incident that involves an employee of SCASPA for the past week.

It was just on Sunday, March 30, 2014 the body of Askeo Farrell a maintenance worker at SCASPA body was found in an elevator shaft at the RLB International Airport.

It was reported that he went missing since the afternoon of Friday, March 28, 2014.

A police press release stated that the investigation into the events surrounding the two drowning victims is being currently being undertaken by members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard, and St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority.
