Put in to bat first, previously unbeaten Barbados were dismissed for 76 with only Kycia Knight (20) and Kyshona Knight (23) getting to double figures.

The wickets were shared up for the T&T bowlers with teenager Samara Ramnath grabbing three for 13 and veteran Anisa Mohammed taking three for 12. Steffie Soogrim and Karishma Ramharack also snatched two wickets each.

In reply, T&T reached 77 for five off 22 overs to seal their third consecutive victory.

It was far from a straightforward chase for Ramharack’s team, with both openers struggling for fluency on what seemed to be a difficult batting surface.

Shunelle Sawh faced 29 balls for her ten, while Djenaba Joseph was unbeaten at the end on 27 off 54 deliveries.

The experienced Britney Cooper also found the going tough, scoring 17 off 31 balls before she became part of middle order collapse that saw T&T lose four wickets for 17 runs before they finally got over the line with Joseph doing the honours.

With the win, T&T went to the top of the standings, one point ahead of Guyana, with Barbados back in third. And they will aim to clinch a place in the final with a victory over Guyana at Warner Park tomorrow.

The top two teams after the group stage will square off for the title at Warner Park on Friday.

In other results yesterday, Guyana defeated the Windward Islands by seven wickets., and the improving Leeward Islands upset champions Jamaica, winning a tense, high-scoring match by one wicket.
