MIAMI, USA — A tropical wave, accompanied by a surface low pressure system, was located about 400 miles east-southeast of the Cape Verde Islands, and moving westward at about 15 mph.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, thunderstorm activity increased and became better organized on Monday and environmental conditions are expected to be favourable for development over the next day or so before becoming less conducive later in the week.
The NHC said the system has a medium chance — 30 percent — of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
