The Way I See It
The way I see it, people have set up some strange gods (common ‘g’), even within our modern day society.
You would believe that with all of the superior gadgets now available, which include smart phones; internet; televisions; tablets and the like, people would have grown to appreciate our great GOD (capital ‘G’) of the universe, even more.
Sadly, it would appear that the more advanced we get, the further we drift from God. As a matter of fact, I now fully understand a quotation I saw many moons ago: ‘Some people are educated beyond their intelligence.’ My simple interpretation, is that some people smart ‘til they stupid!
Well I newa!
And so, just this week, I was parked in a very public area, waiting on a taxi job and not troubling anybody, when another vehicle pulled up close to me. After the formal greetings, it was a matter of ‘to each, his own’ and I lay back to listen to the 6 pm news.
Soon after, I heard a muffled voice and realized that my new ‘neighbour’ was talking on her phone.
However, there were some occasions when she spoke loudly enough and I could not help but hearing.
What I heard, went something like this: “So, listen me carefully. You gonna take three matches and when you leaving the yard, you throw one in the yard. When you get to the burial ground, you throw another one there and the third one, you do no throw that one away but you take it back home and put it in a safe place.”
Well I newa!
I don’t even want to start interpreting what I heard but sufficing to say, I am not the smartest person in the world but why not leave the third match at home, rather than take it to the burial ground to bring it back?
Then I heard her telling the unseen individual to get three items. I can’t remember one but the other two were Creolin (not sure of the spelling but we say queerleen) and the other one was salt. Last I heard was that she was going to pass by the person to tell him or her exactly what to do with the items.
Now like I say, I do not want to get involved into the interpretation of what I overheard but of course I have my thoughts and I know you do too.
I felt hurt and disappointed because, it was only on Wednesday of this week when I was recording the High schools’ Cricket finals, that I heard a Kittitian lass saying something about what she would do to one of the Nevisian players, because she felt that he had disrespected one of the opposing players and a young man nearby said quite loudly: ‘Remember Nevis people know how to wuk obeah.’ Her response was instructive: ‘They no know more than me.’
And so I am saying all that to say this to my dear readers: Keep away from the occult. Any delving into the occult, is heading down the paths of SATAN. When we have problems and issues, we only need to take them to GOD. PRAYER STILL WORKS and God is all powerful. Satan is a defeated foe. He actually has more bark than bite when he comes up against a child of God.
Remember the bible says that as powerful as Satan is, he trembles in the face of someone willing to submit their life to God.
James 2: 19: ‘Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.’
James 5: 16: ‘Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.’
So when we are faced with things that we cannot understand and when people seem bent on harming us, there is only one positive response: GO TO GOD and seek not vengeance because vengeance is the Lord’s.
Remember that the best way to get rid of an enemy, is to make that person your friend.
Leave the soothsayers and the obeah men and women out of the picture. Unless they change, they will have their day in hell.
Once you don’t want to spend eternity there with them, you have to act differently.
Seek God in everything—big or small. God is indeed the answer. Let us trust him and not put our trust in mere mortals and the devil himself.
That’s the way I see it. How do you see it?
