The Way I See It
By:Curtis Morton
The way I see it, TIEF IS TIEF!
I don’t care how you try to side track me with all kind of big words and semantics, I maintain that TIEF IS TIEF!
Now one scholarly gentleman in his quest to educate me, informed me some time ago that ‘TIEFING’ was really done by the poor and indigent—the man on the street.
However, persons who have the white collar jobs, they would sometimes EMBEZZLE; commit FRAUD and collect money UNDER FALSE PRETENCES.
I don’t care what he says. Whether it’s stealing; burglary; robbery; larceny; shoplifting—call it by whatever name—ALL TIEF IS TIEF!
I can’t forget that a certain young lady went into a certain supermarket and while she was browsing through the various shelves, slipped a cut of cheese, inside her bra. She was totally unaware that the store’s camera had picked her up and so when she went to pay for some other items, she was told ‘and you forget the cheese in your bosom…’
Well I newa!
She initially denied the theft but later pleaded for mercy when the store owner threatened to call the Police. I understand that he charged her $1,000.00 for the piece of cheese, in order to prevent herself from ending up in court. The store owner too, was extreme and that’s putting it mildly. I hope that he too would have sought God for his forgiveness.
Now the thieves are lifting their game to another level. Some months ago, as I was approaching the Bay front area to attend a meeting, one evening, I was in time to see an unidentified young man, pulling at the door of a bus of one of our Taxi drivers. When he looked back and he saw me. He ‘tek head mek foot.’
Another Taxi driver told me that one evening, he was a distance away from his vehicle and he watched a young man walk past his bus, peeped in, then turned back. He then turned his back to the bus and while leaning back on it, moved his hand to try the door handle. The bus was locked and the driver shouted at him and he too bolted the scene.
Just on Tuesday of this week, while a grieving family was attending the home going service of a loved one, a TIEF or thieves broke into the homes of two of the family members.
It would appear that these guys have now made listening to funeral announcements, their favourite radio program.
Well I newa!
So, I find it necessary to warn you, the members of the general public to LOCK YOUR VEHICLES WHENEVER YOU EXIT THEM. Even if it is only for a short period of time. It would not hurt either if you can put certain security measures in place when it becomes public knowledge that you will be away from your home for an extended period of time, as in the case of a funeral.
To the persons who can’t keep their hands off of things that don’t belong to them, ask God to help you to overcome the bad habit. Seek him and he will not only forgive you but also help you to overcome the habit.
Then go and LOOK WORK. Get a job man!
You know what I find strange about certain job seekers? Sometimes it is not that there are no jobs available but some people who are looking work are too choosy. When you need work and there is work available, once it is legit, take it until you can get something better or something you prefer.
Tiefing will only get you in trouble. We can learn from the admonitions of my dear, departed grandmother, who taught us ‘to cut and contrive’ and to ‘satify’ with what you have.
That’s the way I see it. How do you see it?
