Teachers Saluted On World Teachers’ Day

Charlestown, Nevis – Today Friday 5th October, is being celebrated around the world, as WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY.
In order to salute the hard-working professionals on the island, the Nevis Teachers Union has organized a range of activities, which commenced at the end of September and will culminate in early November.
Former President of the Nevis Teachers Union, Miss Ornette Webbe, is encouraging all teachers to participate fully in the activities and asking all parents and students to be as supportive as possible to the hard-working teachers.
The current President of the Nevis Teachers Union is Miss Tricia Williams.
The activities are being held under the theme: ‘Young teachers-the future of the profession.’
The list of activities is as follows:
September 29th, 2019 – Church Service at the Trinity Methodist Church, Fountain at 9 a.m.
September 30th, 2019 – NTU’s Youth Arm Cake and Conversation for NTU Members 35 years and under 4:30 p.m.
October 4th, 2019 – Teachers’ Appreciation Day, Tag Day and T-shirt Day and Morning Devotions on Von Radio at 6 a.m.
October 5th, 2019 – Cocktail
October 8th, 2019 – Webinar hosted by Dr. Terrence K. Martin
October 12th, 2019 – Bonfire at Paradise Beach at 6 p.m.
Potluck – To be decided by the Staff of each school
Staff Retreat – To be decided by the Staff of each School
October 26th, 2019 – Teachers’ Hike to the Waterfalls at 7 a.m.
October to November(6 weeks) – Dancercise
November 2nd, 2019 – Teacher’s Concert
