It is just days away from the solemn commemoration of the 52nd year of the sinking of the MV Christena-one of the worse marine disasters that the region has known.
In light of this, the second week of the Christena Memorial swim camp, got on the way, on Monday 25th July, at the Yachtsman’s beach.
According to Terri Andrews, one of the chief coordinators of the program, another 65 children have registered for this week and will be taught the basics of swimming.
They can follow up by becoming regular members of the many Swim to win camps, held throughout the year and Swimming will be offered in at least three Primary Schools, at the start of the upcoming academic term.
Ms. Andrews continues to implore everybody on Nevis to learn to swim.
A certification ceremony will be held today, Thursday 28th July, at the Yachtsman’s Beach.
