Swimming Camp Begins
A one week swimming camp hosted the Department of Sports, commenced at Pinneys Beach on Monday 12th August.
Ag. Director of Sports, Mr. Jamir Claxton, indicated that over 45 persons registered and there were more persons registering even up to the Monday morning.
He noted that the swimming camp had not been a part of his Department’s summer program for a few years now but indicated that there was a great need for such a program and chief Coordinator of the effort, Ms Vera Herbert, ensured that it was included in this year’s activities.
The Facilitators include several of the Sports Officers, led by Tonito Willet and several volunteers who include Bentley Bissette and Malcolm Ramsey.
Claxton used the opportunity to appeal for moiré volunteers to assist the children in learning to swim, especially females who could afford the time, as there was a dire need for more female facilitators.
The one week camp will conclude on Friday 16th August and Claxton has assured the parents who are making a request for classes, that serious consideration is being given to the hosting of an adult camp in the not too distant future.
