The great news is that professional swimming coach and instructor, Ms. Anne McClendon is back on Nevis-what she fondly refers to as her ‘second home.’
She is here conducting a swim camp, mainly facilitating primary schoolers, as part of the swim to win program. The camp is being held at the Yachtsman’s beach.
The camp commenced on Monday of this week and will conclude today Friday, with the presentation of certificates.
According to Ms. McClendon, most of the children are new to the water but are very enthused about learning to swim.
Due to generous sponsorship, registration this time around was totally free of cost and snacks are provided for the participants.
While on Nevis, Ms. McClendon will also continue her training of the local swim coaches and there are big plans in place for them, as a team of professional instructors will come to Nevis later in the year, to further enhance their skills and get them certified to higher levels.
Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn and Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton, are expected to grace the closing ceremony on Friday.
