Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan) – During the 2024 Taipei International Travel Fair, held from November 1st to November 4th, the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan showcased a booth highlighting the two carnival festivities in the Federation: Sugarmas and Culturama.
“Taiwanese people often show great interest in our cultural performances, which feature vibrant costumes, lively dances, and music. So, this year, we chose ‘Sugarmas and Culturama’ as the theme for our booth to share more about our carnival festivities and culture,” explained His Excellency Donya L. Francis, the Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Last year, the Embassy’s booth showcased the rainforest, inviting potential visitors to venture deeper and explore the natural hidden gems of our twin island paradise. In previous years, the focus was on the beaches and beach bars.
On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, a group of nationals from Saint Kitts and Nevis delivered an impressive performance titled “Saint Kitts and Nevis Folklore Galore” on the main stage. The audience was treated to a vibrant Sugarmas and Culturama showcase featuring steelpan music, popular songs, masquerade dancing, and an unforgettable choreographed dance routine.
The nationals received their second consecutive Best Performance Award at the closing ceremony on Monday, November 4th. Ambassador Francis collected the award on their behalf.
The Taipei International Travel Fair is Taiwan’s biggest professional travel exhibition, well-attended by local and foreign visitors. The Embassy’s participation over the years has encouraged the Taiwanese to learn about Saint Kitts and Nevis and see the Federation as an alternative travel destination.
The Embassy thanks the nationals in Taiwan and its staff for their dedication, hard work, and support. It also expresses special appreciation to the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its assistance.
