Statement Re: Prohibiting Entertainment Artistes’ Entry IntoSKN
The Ministry of National Security of St. Kitts and Nevis acknowledges the recent public displeasure regarding the decision to bar entertainment artists from Trinidad and Tobago—namely Richard Anthony Romano, also known as “DJ Punz,” Lorenzo J. A. Homer, and Jasse David Aguillera—from entering the Federation. We appreciate the passion and concerns expressed by our citizens and stakeholders, and we would like to take this opportunity to clarify the rationale behind this decision.
The safety and security of our citizens, residents, and visitors are of paramount importance to this government. The decision to restrict entry was not made lightly; it was based on credible intelligence and thorough assessments, which indicated potential risks associated with the presence of these individuals within our borders. This decision reflects our unwavering commitment to maintaining and improving the safety status of our nation.
As the stewards of national security, the Ministry is duty-bound to act in the best interest of the public. We understand the cultural significance of music and entertainment, and we value the contributions that artists make to our society. However, in matters of national security, the well-being of our people will always be prioritised above all else.
The Ministry of National Security will continue to keep the public informed about actions taken in the interest of national safety. We deeply appreciate the understanding and support of our citizens as we navigate these complex issues. We remain wholly committed to fulfilling our national mandate without fear or favour. To that end, we will continue to collaborate with regional and international law enforcement agencies to monitor any developments that may impact the security landscape of St. Kitts and Nevis.
