BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 14th, 2016 (PRESS SEC) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris will deliver the Feature Address at the 17th Recruit Passing out Parade today, Thursday, April 14th.
The 13 Recruits, who range in age between 18 and 26 years old, will march onto Parade Square at 1605 hours. The Recruits’ March Past, as well as their Inspection by His Excellency the Governor-General, Mr. S.W. Tapley Seaton, C.V.O., Q.C., J.P., will occur at 1625 hours.
The presentation of Certificates and Awards to the Recruits will follow the Honourable Prime Minister’s Feature Address.
The 11 males and two females who completed the 20-week Basic Military Course studied nine subject areas, namely:
Field Craft: Best Student – WREC (Woman Recruit) Zonielle Maynard
Physical Fitness: Best Student – REC Andrew Herbert
Map Reading: Best Student – WREC Zonielle Maynard
Rifle Shot: Best Student – REC Trevorn Henry
Skill at Arms: Best Student – WREC Zonielle Maynard
First Aid: Best Student – WREC Zonielle Maynard
Pistol Shot: Best Student – REC Roosevelt Rose
Drills: Best Student – WREC Zonielle Maynard
Military Knowledge: Best Student – WREC Zonielle Maynard
The two female recruits who completed the training are graduating at the top of the class. WREC Zonielle Maynard is the recipient of the Best Overall Student Award. WREC Naeijah Dasent is ranked second in the class. REC Troy Lake, who came third, is the recipient of the Most Disciplined Student Award.
A female, WREC Zenra Ferdinand, was also the best performing student last year. Zenra Ferdinand did not attend last year’s passing out ceremony because she was studying at the Colonel Ulric Pilgrim Officer School in Guyana from which she successfully completed the yearlong Standard Officer Course.
