Officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, along with officials from the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies, the fire department, and emergency services are currently engaged in a search and rescue operation after a flight crashed off the coast of Grand Turk.
The island’s Public Affairs and Communications Office made the announcement in a news release on Tuesday.
Preliminary reports are that at about 11:40 am on Tuesday, a call was placed to the 911 Operations Center stating that a flight originating from St Kitts with four people crashed 17 miles southeast of the airport.
The US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection is assisting the operation through the provision of air support.
