Gingerland-Nevis- A brief but significant ceremony was held at the St. George’s and St. John’s Senior Citizens Home on the morning of Friday 19th October.
Coordinator of the Seniors’ Division at the Department of Social Services, Miss Trudy Prentice, arrived at the home, bearing gifts.
She noted that the presentation was made as a part of the celebration of Older persons’ month-the month of October and was being made on behalf of the recreational group.
Prior to the presentation, residents at the home, joined in singing some well-known hymns and choruses and the invocation was done by Fr. Dr. Alison Percival, while Caregiver, Mrs. Glorita Vaughn led out in the scripture reading.
Miss Prentice then presented the gift of foodstuff and toiletries to Dr. Percival, who gratefully accepted on behalf of the residents and gave a historical overview of the home, noting that when it started there were only three residents there.
He asked for Gods continued blessings on the Seniors’ Division.
