Residence of the National Assembly Speaker shot at early this morning
(BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS)- Information reaching this media house indicate that shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 the home of the Speaker of the National Assembly was shot at.
Reports indicate that the Hon. Curtis Martin was at his Monkey Hill, St. Peters home when the incident took place, but was not hurt.
This incident came hours after the confrontation that occurred in the House of Assembly, St. Kitts when the opposition MPs representing the PAM, CCM and PLP walked out the House when the MONC was not tabled to be heard. Speaker Martin indicated at that although the matter had been withdrawn from the court, as far as he was concerned, there were still some issues that the court needed to clarify on the issue, and as such he would not entertain any discussion in the House on the issue of the Motion of no Confidence.
Police are currently investigating the matter.
