Report Of Arrests, Convictions And Other Activities

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 03, 2018 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of arrests, convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period April 28- May 02, 2018.

ARRESTED AND BAILED:

Arrested/Bailed: Mike Kelly of Rices Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Battery. He was granted bail in the sum of $2,500 for his appearance at the Charlestown Magistrate Court on the May 01, 2018.

Bailed:  Ryan Warner of Upper Prickle Pear Alley, Basseterre, who was charged for the offence of House Break-in and Larceny, was granted bail in the sum of $30,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on June 04, 2018. The bail conditions are that: (1) he is to surrender all travel documents to the court forthwith; (2) he is to observe a curfew between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; and (3) he is to report to the Basseterre Police Station every Monday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.  

Bailed: Enesto Esteran Lawrence who was charged for the offence of House Break-in and Larceny, was granted bailed in the sum of $5,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on June 04, 2018. The bail conditions are that: (1) he is to reside solely at the residence specified; (2) he is to observe a curfew at the residence between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.; and he is to report to the Sandy Point Police Station every Friday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. 

COURT CONVICTIONS:

In matters at the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court, presided over by Her Honour Ms. Donna Harris, the following matters were reported:

– Leroy Phipps of Lower Project was fined $3,020 to be paid in one (1) month or, if in default, serve seven (7) months imprisonment for the offence of Possession of Cannabis and $10,560 is to be paid in six (6) months or, if in default, he is to serve one (1) year imprisonment for the offences of Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Also, the sums of US $2,976 and EC $10,360 that were confiscated from Phipps were ordered to the crown.  

– Sheldon Shield of Sandy Point was sentenced to six (6) weeks in prison for Battery and was fined $5,000 to be paid in four (4) months or, if in default, serve three (3) months in prison for the offence of Malicious Damage. 

In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court, presided over by His Honour Mr. Reynold Benjamin, the following were reported:

– Keeno Wellington of Saddlers/Wades Garden was convicted and fined $1,000 to be paid in four (4) months or, if in default, serve six (6) months in prison for Driving Without Insurance. He was convicted and fined $1,500 to be paid in four (4) months or, if in default, serve six (6) months in prison for Driving Without a Valid and Unexpired Licence. He was disqualified from holding a valid driver’s licence for six (6) months.

– David Lee of Lower Monkey Hill was convicted and fined $500 to be paid in one (1) month or, if in default, serve six (6) weeks in prison for Driving Without Due Care and Attention.

– Leroy Sullian of Halfway Tree was convicted and fined $400 to be paid in six (6) weeks or, if in default, serve twenty-one (21) days in prison for Driving Without Due Care and Attention.

– Damien Bassue of New Road Housing Extension was convicted and cautioned for Driving with Tinted Windows. 

– Jovan Huggins of Taylor’s Housing, who was charged with the offence of Escaping Lawful Custody, was convicted and sentenced to serve one (1) month in prison.  

OTHER ACTIVITIES: 

Search Warrants Executed: Police executed several search warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following areas: George Street (Newtown), View Point Housing (Sandy Point), Upper Monkey Hill, Crab Hill, Durant Avenue and Halfway Tree.
