REPORT OF ARREST, CONVICTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 14, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period – October 11-12.

 ARREST AND BAIL:

Arrested/Bailed: Alex Bergan of Bouncing Hill was arrested. formally charged and cautioned for the offence of possession of Cannabis,  Bailed: Alex Bergan was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Monday 7th of November, 2016.

Bailed: Bruce Rogers of View Point, Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of causing grievous bodily harm was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on the 14th of October, 2016.

 Bailed: Derrick Hobson of Trafalgar Village who was arrested for breaching his injunction order was granted bail in his own recognizance in the sum of $1,000.00 and ordered to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on the 14th of October, 2016.  Bail was granted with the condition that he is to stay away from the V/C.

 COURT CONVICTIONS:

In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court presided over by his Honour Mr. Benjamin,  Tandy Tomas Mercedes Martinez of College Street Ghaut  pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license and was cautioned, he also pleaded guilty for driving when not being covered by Insurance and was ordered to pay $750.00 EC in one (1) day or if in default serve one (1) month in prison.

 OTHER ACTIVITY:

Burglary: Police is investigating a report of Burglary at Frigate Bay area. The residents stated they secured their villa at about 11.00pm on October 10, and went to bed.  Upon waking at about  5:55am on October 11, it was discovered that his property was broken into and a number of items were missing including personal documents. The scene was processed and the investigation is ongoing.

Wounding With Intent: Police is investigating a report of Wounding with Intent that occurred on George Street, Newtown around 2.00am on October 13. The V/C reported that he was standing in the area when the assailant tried to rob him and stabbed him about his body with a knife. The V/C was treated and released. The investigation is ongoing.

  House Breaking Larceny: Police is investigating in a number of house breakings that have occurred over the period of this report.  House Breaking and Larceny occurred to properties  in the following areas: (2) in Frigate Bay, East Park Range and Bird Rock. Investigations are still on-going.

 Robbery: – Police is investigating a report of robbery that occurred in Saddlers Village. Investigations revealed that at about 12.15am on October 8, the VC was robbed by an unkown person as he parked his bus. During the incident the VC sustained a wound to the head.  He was treated at the Pogson Hospital and released.

 Wounding With Intent: Police is investigating an incident of Wounding With Intent that occurred at about 2:40am on October 13 on Herbert St. in Newtown.  Investigations revealed that the V/C received a gunshot injury to his shoulder after challenging an assailant who had entered his residence. The V/C was treated for his injury at the Joseph N. France Hospital.  The investigation is ongoing.

 Search of Abandoned Properties an Empty Lot: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties. During the search they have conducted a walk through at Bouncing Hill where they searched two (2) abandoned houses. One (1) black plastic bag containing dried vegetable material suspected to be cannabis was found in the one of the abandoned houses. Three abandoned houses in Newton Ground were also searched. Searches were also conducted in Nevis, two (2) abandoned buildings, three (3) Ghauts and four (4) empty lots in were searched.  Searches were done by the Charlestown and Cotton Ground Policing Districts.  The searches were done in search of Controlled Drugs, Arms, Ammunition and implements used in the commission of crimes.

 Search Warrants Executed: Police executed a number of search warrants over the period of this report. The Warrants were executed in the following areas: Taylors Village, Happy Hill Alley and Stuart Williams Drive.

 Traffic Accidents: There were three (3) accidents on the federation’s roadways (2) in St. Kitts and (1) in Nevis during the period October 11. There were four (4) accidents on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts during the period of October 12th 2016

 Community Engagement: Officers of Newcastle Police Station conducted community meet and greets in efforts to engage the citizens in the area they serve.  These meet and greets were conducted in Liburd Hill, Newcastle, other areas covered by station.  The station also conducted visits to village shops.
