Red Force repeats NAGICO Super50

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Trinidad & Tobago Red Force regained the Clive Lloyd Trophy, after they followed up strong batting led by Darren Bravo with steady bowling to dominate a star-studded Barbados Pride by 72 runs in a lopsided Grand Final of the NAGICO Super50 Tournament today here.

Bravo, the West Indies left-handed batting star, fell for 97, as Red Force piled up a challenging 270 for seven before the Pride collapsed to 198 all out in 42.5 overs before a crowd of more than 3,000 mostly red-clad spectators at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Shai Hope hit a circumspect 50 for the Pride and West Indies teammate Carlos Brathwaite blasted a quick-fire 46 off 32 balls to give Pride a flicker of hope before tail-enders Sulieman Benn and Jomel Warrican held up the home team’s celebrations with a breezy last-wicket stand of 49.

It was the 12th Regional Super50 title for the Red Force following success in 1979, 1981, 1990, 1992, 1996 (shared with Guyana Jaguars), 1997, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and last year.
