Basseterre, May 16, 2018 – The people of St Kitts have taken to the streets in protest to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris.
Persons took to the streets today May 16th, with placards demanding that Dr Harris submit his resignation in light of the recent revelation of his involvement in the London Bribery Scandal.
Just yesterday, Asot Michael of Antigua tendered his resignation from the post of Minister of Tourism, Energy and Development due to him being deeply embroiled in the case judgement of the Bribery Scandal (Hardip Singh aka Peter Virdee v. The National Crime Agency (NCA)).
The publication of the transcripts of recorded phone calls between Michael, Virdee and Virdee’s business partner, Dieter Trutschler, where Harris was spoken of as having made gift requests of Virdee of a watch and shoes in addition to being treated to lavish dinners and parties.
Despite the burden of proof against him, Prime Minister Harris continues in his role as Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
The people, however, fearlessly staged a protest outside Government Headquarters today.
