Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 15, 2016 (SKNIS)—Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris is in Placencia, Belize, to attend the 27th Inter-sessional Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government from February 16-17.
Prime Minister Harris’ delegation consists of His Excellency Lionel Sydney Osborne, Ambassador to CARICOM, and Foreign Service Officer, Miss Sonia Boddie.
While in Belize, Prime Minister Harris will join his CARICOM colleagues in discussing several issues of relevance to the Caribbean Community including a response to the threat posed to the region by the ZIKA Virus, regional security, the implementation of climate change measures coming out of the COP 21 Paris Climate Change Conference for Small Island Developing States, border issues, concerns of cricket governance, issues pertaining to associate membership of CARICOM, the future of ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) Group of States, relations with the Dominican Republic, issues affecting the banking sector in the Caribbean and rules of procedure for meeting with conference.
Prime Minister Harris is expected back shortly in the Federation to continue with the Government of National Unity’s 1st Anniversary Week of Activities Celebrations.
