The 2024 Primary Schools football tournament on Nevis kicked off on Friday, October 4th, at the ET Willet Park with an opening ceremony chaired by Deputy Director of Sports, Mr. Aljay Newton.
The ceremony included an invocation by Mr. Kevin Barrett, the national anthem sung by Bemani Alexander, and remarks from Ms. Keesha Jones, the Manager at the Nevis branch of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, the tournament’s sponsor.
SKNFA President Atiba Harris assured continued support for the game’s development on Nevis via a voice note, and Principal Education Officer Ms Londa Browne encouraged all the teams to play hard but fair.
The officials took oaths, with Kerisha Powell taking the officials’ oath and Amara Parris taking the players’ oath. The tournament was officially declared open by Director of Sports Jamir Claxton, and Patron for the game, Arthur PINKY Boston, was saluted via a recording highlighting his prowess as a footballer.
