(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)- Primary and Pre-schools all across Nevis re-opened on Monday, September 01, 2014 after an almost two month long summer vacation.

Students, clad in new uniforms, returned to school with memories of fun-filled holidays behind them. One tutor noted that returning to school after a summer vacation is always difficult for children. To soften the blow she said, “I would always contact my students during the summer months to introduce myself to them and their parents”.

She also noted that the major issue for children when they return to school is adjusting to a new class. “It is always difficult for children to make that adjustment of being in a new class”. She claimed that it is their priority as teachers, to ensure that children are comfortable with their surroundings and once that is being made available, nothing will hinder them from learning.

Students of the Charlestown Primary School were greeted with a new Principal in the person of Ms. Latoya Jeffers. Miss Jeffers said that it was a pleasure to return to the school. She indicated that the school has a track record of achieving great things and she would try her best to keep the standard as high as possible. Ms. Jeffers also stated that it is imperative for the children to look out for each other and to be each other’s keeper.

Both secondary schools on Nevis will be re-opened on Thursday 4, September 2014 due to ongoing repairs that started during the vacation.
