BASSETTERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 18TH 2013 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis Governor General His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence has been receiving his first independence messages as the Head of State and Representative of Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth II.
President of Germany, His Excellency Joachim Gauck on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Independence conveyed to the Governor General and the People of St. Kitts and Nevis ‘my heartfelt congratulations and those of my fellows Germans.”
“Our bilateral relations are marked by friendship and mutual trust. I therefore look forward to continuing this constructive cooperation, not least with a view tackling global challenges such as climate change. I am convinced that our excellent bilateral relations will go from strength to strength. Permit me to extend to you and fellow citizens my best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous future,” the German President wrote.
President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Raùl Castro Ruz congratulated Governor General Sir Edmund on the occasion of celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In his message, Pope Francis in extending cordial greetings to Sir Edmund and the citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis, invoked “the blessings of Almighty God upon the Nation. I pray that all the people may be strengthened in their effort for peace and justice.”
President of Israel, His Excellency Shimon Peres noted that the symbolic date of the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis “offers me the opportunity to extend to Your Excellency, on behalf of the People of Israel and myself, sincere and especially warm wishes for the well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of your country and its people.”
President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency, Park Geun-Hye in his message noted that the “past years have witnessed significant growth in the mutual understanding and cooperation between our two countries.”
The South Korean President hoped that “our friendly and good relations can be further strengthened in various fields for the mutual benefit of our two peoples in the years ahead.”
Governor General of Canada His Excellency, David Johnston said Canada and St. Kitts and Nevis “share warm and friendly relations based on a common heritage and strong people-to-people ties.”
