BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 25TH 2013 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is lauding the significant progress made over the past few months at Kittitian Hill.
“I am very, very impressed and pleased that there continues to be significant progress and improvement being made in the unfolding of this Kittitian Hill Destination. I believe that the promise of having five boutique hotels with total accommodation capacity of about a thousand people being housed here. This is unfolding very rapidly,” said Dr. Douglas on Wednesday following a tour of the project in the hills of Belmont Estate, overlooking St. Paul’s and surrounding areas. Also on the tour was Sedona Resorts CEO, Mr. George Lidicker.
Some 400 persons are employed at the construction site and according to Prime Minister Douglas, the project, when completed and operational “holds the promise that the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Government had been echoing over the last few months, as we try to ramp up the growth prospects for St. Kitts and Nevis in terms of the advancing economy.”
Dr. Douglas, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for the area said the confidence of investors, has returned to St. Kitts and Nevis, especially through the period of economic and financial adjustment.
“I am very much satisfied that we are on target. The country continues to see rapid development strides despite the on-going global recession. In fact, if I were to give a scorecard, I would think that this particular facility has continued to hold the promise that we expected. I will give it 80% in terms of its progress so far and its way to being completed and ready for its doors to be officially open,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
He expressed thanks to those who have had confidence in his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“I commend the hard work, the building skills that we have seen here on this site, where no less than 35 small contractors from time to time have come together to make this dream a reality. I want to tip my hat off to them because when I look at the quality of the finished product that we are having here at the Kittitian Hill destination at this part of the country and at this part of the St. Kitts,” Dr. Douglas added.
