BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 1ST 2014 (CUOPM) – The Federation’s Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has told his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, the Hon. Kamala Persad-Bissessar that that country’s 52nd Anniversary of Independence “allows for a time of reflection on and celebration of the heritage and accomplishments of the twin-island Republic, as well as for the renewing and carving out of visions for the future.”
“The Republic’s contribution to the peace and security of the Region is critical as you have advocated for the establishment of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and demonstrated astute leadership during the negotiations of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). Your continued contributions to the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), is commendable,” said Dr. Douglas in a message.
Prime Minister Douglas said it is his fervent prayer that the mutual bonds and cooperation on issues of shared interest between “our two countries will continue to be enhanced as we strive for regional integration, as well as for peace and prosperity for the Caribbean Community and our Hemisphere.”
“May you continue to exhibit the critical leadership necessary to confront the myriad challenges posed to your country and the Region,” said the St. Kitts and Nevis leader.
