Percy Williams-Not Out On 99
Gingerland, Nevis-Wednesday 13th February, was a significant day in the life of Mr. Percy Williams of Taylor’s Pasture, celebrated his 99th birthday.
He was visited by representatives of the Ministry of Social Development, led by Minister Eric Evelyn, who in presenting him with a fruit basket, complements of his Ministry and City Drug Store,
urged him to ‘continue batting to get that single, so that he could get to that coveted century landmark.’
He gave kudos to the family members who continue to take great care of him and singled out his daughter Claudette, who gave up employment in Canada to come home to assist him.
Included in the mini celebration were an invocation; songs of thanksgiving; the birthday song and words of commendation from persons present.
In response, the celebrant managed one word: ‘Thanks,’ before breaking into his customary chuckle.
