Fountain-Nevis- The NUFF TINGS BOYS’ CLUB, which has been successfully coordinated by Ms. Christine Smith, for the past few years, held its annual Christmas program on Saturday 11th December at the home of the Nuff Tings Boys’ Club, located in Fountain Village.
Quite apart from the Christmas program, the most significant event of the afternoon’s proceedings was the launch of the Girls’ club.
The program commenced with devotions, conducted by Ms. Christine Smith and then Mrs. Althea Jones officially launched and introduced the Girls’ club, stating that the girls will be officially referred to as ‘The Powerful Girls.’
She noted that since the inception of the boys’ club, many of the girls in the nearby villages felt left out and kept asking about a club of their own.
She introduced the girls and the executive that has already been established.
She noted that the girls have been given the opportunity to select the programs that they want to get involved in and have commenced by visiting some of the seniors in the area and assisting them and found it a fulfilling experience.
They will also be introduced to such programs as sewing, cooking and much more.
The girls teamed up with the boys in presenting poems, songs and skits, which were totally enjoyed by the supportive cast of parents, siblings and other community members.
The program was ably chaired by Ms. Kalea Clarke who also rendered an impressive original poem, which was well received.
There are thirteen girls currently enrolled in the girls’ club and other girls are welcome to become members.
