The Police are investigating a shooting incident that led to the death of twenty-three(23)-23-year-old Wilbert D. Pemberton of New Road, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of a mechanic shop in the New Road area between 1:30 PM and 2. PM. Initial inquiries suggest that while walking along the road, Mr Pemberton was accosted by an armed assailant who shot him several times about the body. He was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via ambulance where he underwent emergency surgery.
Regrettably, his injuries proved too severe and he succumbed during the operation.
The Crime Scene Unit (CSU) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force(RSCNPF) processed the scene and took into custody some items of evidential value.
An investigation into the incident is now ongoing and the general public will be kept appropriately updated with its developments.
