Nevis Reform Party leader Janice Daniel-Hodge has called on the Ministry of Education to combat bullying and other forms of indiscipline which occur at the Charlestown Secondary School (CSS).
Daniel-Hodge’s comments follow an incident where a group of students attacked their classmate.
The video of the incident went viral on social media.
“I can only imagine the trauma and the emotional and physical pain that young child is experiencing.
As a parent, it is very heartbreaking to watch that video. No one deserves such assault,” Daniel-Hodge stated.
“From my understanding, this has been a growing problem at the CSS and I am calling on the Minister of Education to handle these matters with the greatest urgency.
This call I also make to Education officials. It cannot be business as normal.
She added: “Let’s stand together to stop the bullying and help curb the violence in our schools. This is no time for velvet gloves…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We must take action now.”
The Nevis Island Assembly MP also called on parents to teach their children to respect others and themselves.
