NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (May 24, 2013) –Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration Hon. Mark Brantley expressed satisfaction with ongoing tourism related high-end developments on the island, after a field visit to three major projects on May 24, 2013.
Mr. Brantley’s first stop was at the Four Reasons Resort Estates Villas at Pinneys Project with Vice President Mr. David Chekemian. His second stop was at The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa with General Manager Ms. Lidia Damaris Alvarado and concluded with a tour of The Tamarind Cove Marina Development with Managing Director Mr. Greg Hardtman.
“I am heartened by what I am seeing and the significance of these three projects cannot be overstated, it is very important. The number of people employed, I am told, here at Tamarind Cove is over 70; at Four Seasons Resort Estates there are significant numbers as well and I believe at The Hamilton they told me they had in the region of 40.
“So we are very, very pleased but more importantly, I think from a tourism perspective, these projects are coming on stream hopefully, certainly in some phases by the [upcoming tourism] Season this year. Tamarind Cove, we are told, the first few units will be done by December and at the Hamilton we are told that they will be fully operational, certainly for the Season. All three properties are high-end properties and they will all have the amenities, the pools, the spas, the saunas and the like and I am very happy for this contribution,” he said.
Mr. Brantley also reminded that the NIA continued to pledge its support to those various tourism projects and developments and encouraged others who were interested in engaging in similar developments to get on board.
“We encourage others who might be interested in doing similar developments to get on board and come to sit and talk with us so that we can move Nevis forward together,” he said.
The Tourism Minister thanked all those who made the tour possible and promised he would return for a follow up visit. He also expressed hope that all the projects would successfully open; offer employment to Nevisians and add value to the island.
