Nevis Loses Two Stalwarts

Charlestown, Nevis – The Nevisian community is mourning the recent loss of two prominent figures.

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, it was announced that Lady Sheila Daniel had passed away. She was the wife of the late Dr. Sir Simeon Daniel, who is recognized as St. Kitts and Nevis’ third National Hero.

In response to her passing, the Rt. Excellent and Rt. Hon. Dr Sir Kennedy A. Simmonds, the country’s first Prime Minister and the only living National Hero, paid tribute to Lady Sheila’s life and legacy.

“It is with deep sadness that I acknowledge the passing of Lady Sheila Daniel, the beloved wife of the late Dr. Simeon Daniel, who made history as the first Premier of Nevis,” Sir Kennedy shared in a heartfelt post on social media. He described her as a beacon of kindness, compassion, and strength, stating, “Lady Sheila will be remembered for her remarkable kindness, unwavering compassion, and quiet strength that touched the lives of so many. Her legacy of grace and courage will continue to inspire us.”

Additionally, before Lady Sheila’s passing, the community mourned the loss of former top cop Nelson Stapleton, who served as Assistant Commissioner of Police during his law enforcement career.
