The St. Kitts- Nevis Netball team, returned home recently, after participating in the ECCB /OECS regional Netball championship.
The local team placed a credible fourth out of the nine teams, in what Manager Allister Thompson described as a grueling tournament.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Thompson had indicated that the young ladies were fit and ready but noted that the makeup of the tournament tested them beyond limits and that the Doctor and Trainer had to work overtime, in order to keep a full team on court, at all times.
Games played in the heat of the day really tested their stamina and endurance.
The SKN team lost a few games by just a few goals, just failing by a narrow margin for an even higher placement.
They even had a top team, Barbados 7 goals to nil, at the start of that game, until the experienced Bajans came back with full force to dominate the game.
He opined that Grenada deserved championship honours and also thinks that although Montserrat went through a rough tournament, in a few years’ time, they could be a force to reckon with.
The team is already back in training, as they prepare to leave the federation on Wednesday 18th October, in order to participate in a tournament, to be held in St. Maarten.
The tournament, which is dubbed “Battle of the Saints,’ will feature about five teams and will run from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd October.
Thompson is predicting that the team will return to the federation on Monday 23rd October, with the winner’s trophy.
