By: Curtis Morton
The Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (NABA) is currently hosting its annual summer Basketball camp for Primary and Secondary School students.
The camp commenced on Monday 18th August and is set to climax later today—Friday 22nd August.
Ms Wanda Parry, the long serving President of NABA indicated in an interview with Sharlene Martin on Thursday stated that the camp was organized by her Association with assistance from the St.Kitts-Nevis Basketball Association (SKNABA).
It is one of the mandates of her Association as the intention is to strive for continuity and further development of the sport on the island.
Two of the coaches who are assisting with the program, Bjay and Malisha Caesar—the latter who incidentally has played for the St.Kitts-Nevis female Basketball team for the last ten years, pointed out that they were teaching the over twenty children the basic skills of the game, along with general discipline and the nurturing of an attitude of hard work.
The children were also engaged in some 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 exchanges on Thursday but are expected to feature in some actual competitive games today, as the camp climaxes.
