BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 11TH 2013 (CUOPM) – A top official of an internationally well-known engineering company is excited over the services it is providing in the construction of the new Park Hyatt in St. Kitts.
The 5-star scheme by Dubai’s Range Developments will be situated at Banana Bay within the Christophe Harbour area, on the island’s south east peninsula.
“We are excited to be working alongside Range and Hyatt on this signature project. The development will comprise world class residential, recreational and dining facilities set in the most idyllic of locations,” said Mott MacDonald’s Project Director, Phil Newton.
The Park Hyatt hotel is part of a wider 1,000 hectare masterplanned community, which will include 50 private residential homes, a 120 hectare ‘super yacht’ marina and village, 18-hole championship golf course, restaurants and a private membership club. The beachside resort comprises 134 guest rooms, luxury restaurants including a restaurant and beach bar, as well as a fitness centre and spa.
Mott MacDonald is providing geotechnical, structural, civil and building design services, which includes all data, security and AV systems throughout. The consultancy will work closely with local authorities to minimise the impact on the local environment and ensure a sustainable carbon footprint.
Potable water will be produced on site via a reverse osmosis facility and sewage effluent will be treated on site to provide irrigation for the hotel grounds. Both of these processes are reliant on continual power supply and add to the complexity of the design.
Construction is planned for completion in 2015.
