BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 7TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Attorney General the Hon. Jason Hamilton says there is no connection between the Constituency Boundaries Commission and the Motion of No Confidence.
“Another point that was attempted to be raised (during the Boundaries Commission hearing) was that the Government is not capable of changing the boundaries in circumstances where a Motion of No Confidence is pending. The court dismissed that as well, finding that the government has its right to select the persons who sit on the Commission and the Commission has a right to carry out its work; motion of no confidence pending or not,” said Attorney General Hamilton.
“So a lot of this talk in relation to that is contrary to what the judgement says and I don’t want persons to get the impression that that is something that should borne in mind in relation to the Commission carrying out its work. The Commission will carry out its work and we will see the result of that after the Commission has produced its Report, whenever that is done,” said Mr. Hamilton.
