MONTESORRI RECEIVED FIERY BAPTISM

By:Curtis Morton

The Montesorri Primary School was treated to a baptism of fire as they made their debut in the Primary Schools Football league, on Wednesday 21st October.
They came up against the more seasoned campaigners of the Maude Cross Preparatory School , who were incidentally fresh from an 8 goals to nil drubbing of the Nevis Academy team.

From the outset, it was obvious that the MCPS boys were on a mission. After the first few goals, they did not ease up the pressure and the rookie opponents had no answer to the onslaught.

The MCPS was led in a big way by Jevani Wheel who wheeled in 7 goals and Carlon Tuckett, who tucked in 6 of his own.
At the final whistle, the score line was a whopping 18 goals to nil, in favour of the MCPS team, a new tournament record.

However, Coach Francis and Headmistress Morgan of the Montesorri School, in a post match interview, noted that it was the very first time that the boys had played a competitive game of this magnitude and they opined that the children ‘gave of their all’ and stated that they were very proud of them.

As a matter of fact, Coach Francis is anticipating a much closer game when his team engages the Nevis Academy on Friday 30th October at the ET Willet Park.
In other games played on that same day:
Ivor Walters Primary defeated Elizabeth Pemberton Primary, 2 goals to 1, in a B division fixture and St.Thomas’ Primary surprised the Charlestown Primary team by winning with a margin of 4 goals to nil, in another B division encounter.
