Miss Caribbean Culture- Miss Kadija Furlonge- Montserrat
Representing the Emerald Isle of The Caribbean, Montserrat, I am 18 year old, Kadija Furlonge.
Currently, I am a student pursuing a career in Midwifery. I have recently completed my A-Level examinations in Psychology and Health & Social Care. Come September of this year, I will commence my tertiary education studying Midwifery at City University London.
To achieve your goals with success you need a positive philosophy, and I have developed mine through living with my role model – my mother. She has set me an example of perseverance and determination and her generous spirit shows me that it is important to always do good unto and for others. And this has developed my personal philosophy which is “To be the change that I want to see happening by aspiring to achieve beyond my dreams” and to “live my life with no regrets”. These beliefs will guide me towards the successful achievement of my goal to become a professional midwife.
As I full time student I devote many hours to my studies but to have a good balance I find time for my two favourite hobbies. I indulge my passion for fashion through on-line shopping, as I use fashion as a way of expressing my moods and attitudes without using words. Athletics is my other favourite pastime which helps me to live a healthy lifestyle, giving quality to my existence and development. If you were to ask my friends about me, they would say I am willing to try nearly anything, I just see myself as fun loving and full of joy and the consensus is that I am determined and strong willed but very loving.
In December 2012 I competed in and won the coveted title of Miss Montserrat during the significant 50th Anniversary celebrations of our annual festival. This was the realisation of a childhood dream which now gives me the greatest pleasure to be competing in the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant as an ambassador for my country.
