Ministry Of Sustainable Development Leads Focus Groups as It Continues Work on Voluntary National Review

BASSETERRE, St Kitts – The country’s very first Voluntary National Review (VNR) continues to be developed as it will be presented at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York City in July 2023.

The Review communicates the progress the Federation has made so far in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It reflects a frank assessment of the limitations, challenges, and the Federation’s determination in pursuing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Additionally, the Review presents an opportunity for the Federation to highlight the progress and plans to the rest of the world and to attract support from willing partners to address areas where St. Kitts and Nevis is falling short.
The charge is led by the Department of Public Sector Investment Planning (PSIP), which falls under the Ministry of Sustainable Development, that conducted in-focus group sessions with stakeholders in St Kitts between April 19-21, 2023 and in Nevis, during the period April 3-6.

Participants included statutory corporations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the private sector. On the Nevis end, Premier Hon. Mark Brantley was engaged in a brief meeting prior to the sessions.

The various stakeholders discussed the progress in achieving the various Sustainable Development Goals, as well as bright spots, challenges and opportunities, from their perspective.
