Minister Duggins Celebrates Success of Creative Arts Fund and Announces Upcoming Creative Power Arts Convention

Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS): During St. Kitts and Nevis National House of Assembly on Friday, August 02, 2024, Minister of the Creative Economy, the Honourable Samal Duggins, celebrated the success of the Creative Arts Fund, and announced the upcoming Creative Power Arts Convention.

“To date, the creative arts fund has assisted well over 50 creatives after being launched earlier this year in advancing their creative endeavours,” said Minister Duggins. “Whether it was craft personnel that wanted to improve their skill set, musicians that wanted to buy studio equipment, photographers and videographers that wanted to buy equipment, agencies trying to put on events for training and development, we have assisted well over 50 creatives just this year alone.”

The minister emphasised his ongoing commitment to revitalising and strengthening the creative sector, stating that he and his ministry are eagerly anticipating the continued success and expansion of these initiatives into 2025.

The minister also shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming Creative Power Arts Convention, expressing that he and his ministry are thrilled about the event. He highlighted that the convention will bring together top talent from various industries across the Caribbean to the islands, where twenty-eight facilitators will provide training for our creatives. These facilitators will cover a range of fields, including dance, event promotion, touring, modelling, and fashion design.

The convention is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 07, 2024, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.
