The 20-year-old grandson of Cultural Ambassador The Most Honourable Anthony Mighty Gabby Carter Gabby was fatally shot in Queens, New York, at the weekend.
According to media reports, Daryus Clarke, who was employed at the “The Plug” smoke shop at 109-27 Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill, was killed while on the job.
Eyewitness News ABC reported that the shooting happened right next to a sneaker store, ‘Sample New York,’ and a doctor’s office.
One eyewitness who Eyewitness News spoke with exclusively said he rushed into the smoke shop after hearing the shots to see the worker on the ground and in bad shape.
Police say the shooting was a robbery. They are looking for three suspects, all wearing dark-colored hoodies.
The eyewitness also says that smoke shops in the area have been targeted.
Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell passed by the scene and checked in with one of the inspectors on Saturday.
The senseless shooting left Delma, a customer, baffled.
“He seemed very nice, very nice. It’s sad — was no need. Like why would you shoot him?” Delma said.
Police say the robbers stole $100 and $50 worth of smoking products.
