A Nevisian male, who was taken into custody over the weekend after he allegedly found with a firearm, has been charged by Police.
Nevispages has confirmed that the male was charged, but his name is yet to be released by the Police Public Relations office. Nevispages understands however, that the male is a resident of Marian Avenue, in Nevis.
According to a police press release, a concerned citizen alerted the police to suspicious activities involving the said male on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
“Upon receipt of such information, Officers commenced the search for the individual in the Ramsbury and Government Road areas on Nevis. The individual was located in the Government Road area walking with the firearm in his hand, he was challenged by the officers and he ran. A chase ensued and he was apprehended. One (1) Smith and Wesson 40mm pistol was recovered and seized. The male was taken into custody, and a subsequent search warrant was executed on his home,” the press release read.
The illegal firearms mark the 13th seizure of firearm in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for 2017.
