Lloyd Gomes and His Nevis Connection

His name is Lloyd Gomes and his surname seems to hint towards a Trinidadian connection. However, the youthful hurdles ace actually claims Nevis as home.
The young sprinter is currently on his fourth visit to Nevis., This time to attend the wedding of his aunt. However, he is proud to say that his mother was born in Cole Hill, Nevis although he was born in England, as his Mom migrated to England at the age of 11.
‘‘When I visited Nevis for the first time, I went to Cole Hill and saw where my mother grew up. That meant a lot to me,’ he stated in an interview conducted with NTV Sports.
The young athlete, who majors in the 400 meters hurdles as his pet race, has already represented the UK and Great Britain in international meets and has two gold medals at that level to show for his efforts.
His sights are now well and truly set on representing his ‘adopted’ country in the upcoming Commonwealth games and his major goal is to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics.
‘I train really hard,’ he explained and took time out to advice the youngsters on Nevis ‘to dream big’ and work hard towards making those dreams a reality.
