Despite the off field controversies, the 2013 edition of the Legends cup Football action, got on the way, with the first match played on the evening of Saturday 31st August at the ET Willet Park.
Arch Rivals Stones United faced off with neighbours Hard Times and what a game it was!
Stones United went into the lead in the first half and managed to hold on the lead for up until 15 minutes remaining in the second half. Then it happened. There was a bit of a bungle in front of the Stones’ goal and the Stones’ goalie was left flat footed as the ball was popped into the back of the net. The score line: 1 goal all.
A persistent shower did not serve to dampen the intensity of the game, as both teams strove for supremacy in the final moments.
In the end, as the final whistle blared across ETW, the players shook hands, obviously satisfied with the hard fought draw.

One of the 1eatures of the game was the outstanding defensive work of the only female in the game, Rozel Liburd of the Stones United team, who is also a representative of the National female team.
On Sunday 1st September, the much anticipated matchup between Stoney Grove Strikers and SL Horsfords Highlights created much excitement for a much more sizeable crowd at the ETW.
The Stoney Grove Strikers were able to seal the deal however, with the lone strike of the match.
