Twenty – two (22) year old Akeem Saunders is the lone new comer to the thirteen (13) man squad. This comes after his performance of 157 Not out during the Leeward Islands practice games which was held in Antigua over the past three weeks. Other strong batting performances during these games came from Nkrumah Bonner, Jahmar Hamilton, Chesney Hughes, Jacques Taylor, Quinton Boatswain, Kacey Carty and Vice-Captain Rahkeem Cornwall all of these batsman scored half centuries during the practice games.
The bowlers performed equally aggressively with Hayden Walsh Jr with 6 wickets for 112 runs; Jeremiah Louis 5 for 62 and Rahkeem Cornwall 5 for 35.
The selectors’ job was quite hard as each cricketer performed to their highest standard, with a competitive drive to maintain and to gain a spot on the Hurricanes’ roster.
