LEA PARRIS GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

By:Curtis Morton

(Charlestown Nevis)-Lea Parris is all about giving
back to the community. The energetic woman who is proud to let the world know that she is a cancer survivor, by the grace of God, is now spending her time in finding significant ways to give back to her beloved community.

You would think that the Cancer Care Pink Lily foundation would be enough, based on the huge number of persons who have received assistance through that organization, which incidentally is her brain child.

However, to Lea Parris, that is not enough. While receiving cancer care in England, alongside her mom, who was similarly diagnosed, Lea Parris spent time in furthering her education in certain specific subject areas.
Now she is ready to give back to the community by educating and motivating young persons into positive paths.

The Youth Action Training workshop commences on Monday 10th August at the Corn Mill at Hard Times in Gingerland and caters for young persons aged 16 to 24 years.
According to Parris: “it’s the best possible learning opportunity and experience for young adults to receive essential employment and skills training, build confidence in their ability; realize their potential and achieve fulfillment and success.’
The sessions will run for three weeks from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 11 am daily.

At the same time, Lea Parris will be conducting evening sessions for individuals 25 years and older.

This course is set to equip individuals with the tools, techniques and confidence to seek or change employment and carry out work that is enjoyed to the best of their ability.
These sessions will commence on Monday 10th August and will be held on Monday nights from 6 to 8 pm for the next twelve weeks.
Mrs. Parris is conducting the training sessions in collaboration with the Community Development Department and with their full blessing.
The sessions will be held under the theme: ‘STRENGTHENING FOUNDATIONS BY INVESTING IN PEOPLE.’

Interested persons can sign up on the spot or call 664-8360. Significantly, registration is absolutely free of cost.
